MEN OF MYSTERY #76
$9.95, 68 page format, saddle-stitched
Shipping December 2008
Black & white interiors with full color covers.

Writer's and Artist's Names: Writers include Richard Hughes, Robert Turner and Otto Binder; artists include Sheldon Moldoff, Harry Lucey, Bob Fujitani, Ken Battefield, Ralph Mayo and Leonard Franks.
Intended Audience: All-ages fans of Golden Age reprint material, art aficionados, comics historians, and fans of classic action, adventure and superhero material of all kinds.
Format: Standard comic book size, extra-thick 68-page saddle-stitched design; black & white interiors with color covers.
Synopsis: This issue boasts TWO BLACK TERROR tales- "The Thieving Leprechauns", and "Trouble Down Mexico Way"; The HOOD in "The Man Who Sold His Soul To The Devil"- drawn by Bob Fujitani; FLASH LIGHTNING and The RAVEN, out of Ace Comic's rare Sure-Fire #3, from 1940; plus MAJOR MIDNIGHT, by Leonard Franks.
Special Notes: Men of Mystery has a particularly pulpish flavor this issue, with much of the material taken from the comic-book divisions of a couple of the biggest pulp magazine publishers of the medium's heyday. The BLACK TERROR was the biggest star produced by Nedor Comics, which was the offshoot of Ned Pines successful & long-lived Standard/Better line of pulps, While Sure-Fire stars FLASH (later changed to "Lash" ) LIGHTNING and The RAVEN were the progeny of L.L. Wynn's Ace Publications comic book branch. And even though the original publisher of this issues' HOOD story ( Holyoke Pubs. put out Cat-Man comics- this story from issue #26 ) wasn't itself involved in pulp production, the eerie, atmospheric artwork of Bob Fugitani on it would have been at home in the weirdest of the weird pulps of the day.
